Kogel is at the helm of his newly announced German content giant Leonine. A seasoned producer who was behind global hit “Wanna Bet,” his new TV and film business is being bankrolled by private-equity outfit KKR. Kogel has deep links in German media, having served as head of entertainment at pubcaster ZDF, managing director of commercial channel Sat.1 and on the board of Leo Kirch’s Kirch Media. He’s also been chief executive of Constantin Film and Constantin Media. His new media group has already amassed some of Germany’s most prized content assets, including Tele Munchen Group, Universum Film, i&u TV and Wiedemann & Berg Film. A one-stop shop of sorts, Kogel set up Leonine to work in both old and new media from the outset.
