Massoudi’s profile has grown within Fox Corp. as the industry is abuzz about the growth potential of ad-supported streaming channels. Fox’s $440 million purchase of Tubi raised eyebrows in March 2020, but nearly three years in, its fast-growing channel portfolio has given Fox some sizzle on Wall Street now that investors are looking to AVOD platforms to balance the content-spending arms race. Fox both looks disciplined by a Tubi investment and has found new monetization avenues for its pricey sports and entertainment content. Tubi will also serve as a catchup platform for Fox Sports coverage of this year’s World Cup, making matches available, as he said at the Fox upfronts, “right after the final whistle.”
