Moss had already been part of two iconic series, “The West Wing” and “Mad Men,” when she signed on for Hulu’s big bet on peak TV. As the lead in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” she won an Emmy in 2017 and a nomination in 2018 —along with the show’s lengthy string of nominations. In the era of Trump and #MeToo, she has become the face of a zeitgeist-grabbing series that addresses oppression and resistance. As scarlet-robed, bonnet-headed crowds appear at protests, her show is increasingly resonant. But now Moss is a hands-on exec producer, taking the rudder of a career that also includes indie-minded film work in such titles as the Swedish satirical drama “The Square.” Latest is her third go-round with Alex Ross Perry, this time as a strung-out punker in “Her Smell.”
