The sales mastermind behind the Nintendo Switch, Bowser has stayed mum on rumors that a 4K upgrade to the home and handheld console is coming soon following the release of its new OLED model in October. Instead, he’s continued to tout a slate of upcoming sequels to popular titles like “Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Bayonetta,” not to mention a big November update to 2020’s wildly successful “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” which at nearly 34 million units is on track to unseat “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” as bestselling game in the console’s five-year history. The “Mario” brand is also making an ambitious push into film, with Universal’s Illumination studio (“Minions,” “Sing”) working on an animated feature starring Chris Pratt (“Jurassic World,” “The Tomorrow War”) as the titular plumber for a December 2022 release.
