But now it’s soaring after sales in the first half of 2020 skyrocketed, aided further by the massively popular “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” a life simulation game released in March, adding to the Switch’s nearly two-year hot streak as the bestselling gaming console in the U.S. Now overseeing the Americas after working in sales and marketing, Bowser’s role is more important than ever, as North America has grown more lucrative for the company in recent years. While “Animal Crossing” is poised to surpass “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” as the best-selling Switch game, Bowser is also overseeing a suite of games, products and virtual events celebrating 35 years of the Mario brand, making its durability a further goal for the Switch’s mid-cycle years.
