Lemon has become one of the leading faces of CNN, thanks in no small part to a 10 p.m. program that delves deep into some of the social and cultural ramifications of daily events. He opens his show on many nights with his own take on the most recent developments of the news cycle, giving personal insights and perspectives from guests within marginalized communities. This year, CNN appeared to acknowledge the anchor’s prominence by re-titling his program “Don Lemon Tonight” instead of “CNN Tonight With Don Lemon.” In May 2021, Lemon launched a podcast, “The Handoff,” with fellow network star Chris Cuomo, capitalizing off of the duo’s on-screen banter. Lemon joined CNN in 2006 after working for local stations such as Chicago’s WMAQ, as well as NBC News.
