Searchlight Pictures survived parent company Fox’s sale to Disney in 2019, but the specialty label’s longtime chiefs, Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula, decided to retire in April 2021, and Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield were tapped to replace them. The duo had served as heads of production for Searchlight since 2016, during which time they shepherded awards-circuit favorites such as “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “The Favourite,” “Jojo Rabbit” and best picture winners “The Shape of Water” and “Nomadland,” the latter of which crowned the 93rd Academy Awards in 2021. Before joining Searchlight as a senior exec in 2010, he was a production exec at Miramax.
