Under Throop’s leadership, eOne grew in 20 years from a modest Canadian record distributor to a global entertainment studio, selling in December 2019 to kids kingpin Hasbro for an eye-watering $3.8 billion. With growth fueled by multiple acquisitions and the lucrative phenomenon that is “Peppa Pig,” eOne hit 500 hours of content last year, with a line-up that includes “The Rookie” for ABC and “Cardinal” for CTV and Hulu, along with distribution for megahit “The Walking Dead.” Upcoming film projects include the canine adventure “Arthur the King,” starring Mark Wahlberg. Now eOne is looking to tap into Hasbro’s vast library of IP consisting of Transformers, Nerf and My Little Pony, among others. Throop, who was recently appointed to the Order of Canada, reports to Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner.
