Chairman / CEO

The director, producer, writer, and sometime actor, is best known for helming the critically acclaimed “The Usual Suspects” and four films in the $4.3 billion “X-Men” mega-franchise. The New Yorker went to USC, wrote, produced and directed his feature debut, 1988’s “Lion’s Den,” and was a co-winner of the Sundance 1993 Grand Jury Prize for his second film, “Public Access.” But it was his 1995 stylish, twisty crime thriller“ “The Usual Suspects” that really launched his career. His third film was another thriller, 1998’s “Apt Pupil,” and then in the 2000s Singer hit his stride with the first of his hugely successful “X-Men” films. Ironically, even though he wasn’t a big comic book fan boy himself, Singer was attracted to the source material and its timely themes of outsiders and intolerance, and was able to bring a thoughtful, sincere voice and more profound subtext to the usual superhero proceedings. Directed 2006’s “Superman Returns” ($390M+ gross), teamed with Tom Cruise on the WWII thriller “Valkyrie” ($200M+ gross) and stumbled with the 2013 fantasy adventure “Jack the Giant Slayer,” his darker PG-13 take on the fairy tale that failed to resonate with audiences. Bounced back with smashes “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Set to direct “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic.
