In a business where one can be hot today and forgotten tomorrow, Ramer has shown remarkable longevity. He’s handled Clint Eastwood for more than five decades, going back to his days as the star of spaghetti westerns in the ’60s up to 2021’s “Cry Macho,” his most recent work as an actor and director. Steven Spielberg has been a client since 1975’s “Jaws,” with the film’s mechanical shark, Bruce, said to be named after the attorney. Other longstanding clients include filmmakers Robert Zemeckis, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, David O. Russell, Richard Curtis, Ted Melfi, Cameron Crowe and Tom Shadyac. A military vet who joined his current firm in 1963, Ramer sits on the board of directors for many civic-minded organizations, including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (chairman) and the Peabody Awards (chair, West Coast board).
