When Bela Bajaria recently became Netflix’s head of global TV, she set upon reshuffling management. Wright, who joined in 2014, is now charged with running overall deals in addition to his existing duties with original series. As head of Netflix’s family and young adult programming, he is the creative executive tasked with mega-hit “Stranger Things” as well as “Umbrella Academy,” “On My Block” and newer acquisitions-turned-Netflix-continuations such as “Cobra Kai.” Wright has long been ensconced in the family programming space, previously serving as senior vice president of development at Nickelodeon. He manages “Hollywood” and “The Politician” creator Ryan Murphy’s $300 million overall deal, set in 2018.
