Bob
Bakish

President / CEO

Bakish has been working hard to implement his post-merger vision for Viacom and CBS, recombined as ViacomCBS in December 2019, but it’s been a rocky road. When he announced his plans to rebrand and replace CBS All Access with an international “House of Brands” streaming service (featuring content spanning Paramount, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, etc), ViacomCBS stock dipped and struggled to recover, even after he clarified that it would bear the more marketable name Paramount Plus. At the same time, he followed through on his promise to spin off non-core assets, selling CNET Media Group (purchased for $1.8 billion in 2008) to Red Ventures for $500 million. Still, company-wide layoffs that began in February 2020 have continued into the fourth quarter, with 100 more roles being cut in November as Bakish continues to streamline assets post-merger.
