Porter
Most people know Porter for playing Pray Tell in “Pose” — for which he earned his second consecutive Emmy nod after winning the first — and his fashionable gender subversion on red carpets. But before gigs in films including early 2020’s “Like a Boss” and guest appearances on “The Twilight Zone” and “The Simpsons,” he was a theater veteran and Tony winner. He has kept his stage roots in mind throughout the pandemic as a founding member of Black Theatre United, headlining the artist-activist group’s campaign for census awareness. As Hollywood productions resume, he’s on tap to play the fairy godmother in a modern retelling of “Cinderella” for Sony Pictures and to voice Audrey II in a new “Little Shop of Horrors.” Porter is also set for his directorial debut with “What If?” for MGM’s Orion Pictures, about a high school student who romantically pursues a trans classmate.
