Stiller
Stiller has had a career as a producer and director running parallel to his job as one of filmdom’s top comedy stars since the early ’90s. But his recent focus on more serious small-screen efforts has resulted in a dramatic increase in awards-season attention. His Apple TV+ series “Severance,” a mind-bending sci-fi thriller about office workers whose memories of their work and personal lives have been separated, garnered 14 Emmy nominations in 2022, including one for Stiller as a director, and won two. It was his second big showing at the Emmys following “Escape at Dannemora,” a fact-based Showtime miniseries about a lonely prison employee (Patricia Arquette) manipulated into helping two inmates (Benicio Del Toro and Paul Dano) break out, that received 12 nominations in 2019, including a pair for Stiller.
