While putting finishing touches on his 21-track, 86-minute behemoth “Certified Lover Boy,” Toronto’s favorite son scored hit collaborations with partners as varied as Nike, fashion company A Bathing Ape and candle company Revolve. He invested heavily in vegan food brand Daring Foods, further extending his already enormous global reach. He also inked a deal with Live Nation to open the 2,500-capacity Toronto venue History and signed on to executive produce the hockey-themed documentary “Black Ice” alongside LeBron James. Despite being panned by critics, “Certified Lover Boy” was an instant No. 1 that scored the biggest sales debut of 2021, with 595,300 album-equivalent unit sales and 680.9 million streams its first week out.
