Following a supporting actor nomination in 2019, Driver segued to the lead category, earning an Academy Award nod for Netflix’s “Marriage Story.” With the unique ability to transform from mainstream hits to indie critical favorites, Driver wrapped “The Rise of Skywalker” — the final installment in Disney’s first “Star Wars” trilogy — which brought in more than $1 billion. Next, he toplines Sony’s sci-fi thriller “65” and plays Marion Cotillard’s love interest in the musical “Annette,” from French director Leos Carax, which was set to debut at Cannes prior to the pandemic. COVID-19 pushed back Ridley Scott’s historical drama “The Last Duel” to 2021, in which Driver is set to star opposite Matt Damon, but once that production wraps he’ll re-team with Scott on his star-studded Gucci feature opposite Lady Gaga.
