A former sports reporter and TV presenter, Ilıcalı launched his production company in 2004, adapting the likes of “Survivor” and “Dancing With the Stars” for Turkish television. Some of these are now broadcast on TV8, the channel his Acun Medya bought in 2013. Since 2016, Acun Medya has expanded internationally, starting with formats of “The Voice” and “Survivor” in Greece. Its own unscripted sports reality show, “Exathlon,” debuted in Brazil in 2017 but now has versions in countries including the U.S. (on Telemundo), Hungary and Mexico. The company is currently producing content on four continents and in more than 10 countries. More recently, Ilıcalı launched local streaming platform Exxen. He has also been pushing into the sports business and has announced plans to purchase an English soccer team.
