Bollywood superstar Khan has had to contend with the impact of COVID-19, contracting the virus in March 2021 as “Laal Singh Chaddha,” a highly anticipated Hindi-language remake of Tom Hanks classic “Forrest Gump” with Khan in the lead role, was delayed from a holiday release in India to February 2022. Produced by Viacom18 Studios and his own Aamir Khan Productions, the star’s take on “Forrest Gump” reunites him with director Advait Chandan, who helmed 2017’s Khan-produced “Secret Superstar,” which became the highest-grossing Indian film in history to feature a female protagonist and nabbed $118 million in China after Khan’s “Dangal” became the highest-grossing Indian film there in 2016.
