Patty Duke, who won a supporting actress Oscar playing Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker,” starred in 1960s sitcom “The Patty Duke Show” and served as president of SAG, died Tuesday. She was 69.

Actor Clint Eastwood took a break from his acting career in 1986 in order to run for mayor of tony California artists’ enclave Carmel-by-the-Sea. He was elected on April 8, 1986, and served for two years, focusing his administration on promoting small business and environmental issues. The year he was elected mayor, “Heartbreak Ridge,” a film he directed and starred in, was released.
