Kirstin Swanson Wilder's <i>Variety</i> career began in 1992 as a copy editor laying out the pages of <i>Daily Variety</i>. Since then she's been Sunday news editor, V Page editor, and was the editor that launched <i>Daily Variety</i>'s Gotham edition in March 1998. She oversaw <i>Variety</i>'s Show Daily operations for many years which took her to film festivals in Cannes, France, and Busan, South Korea.<BR>
She has had a passion for journalism since the 8th grade when her school newspaper, the Irving News in Lincoln, Nebr., misspelled her name in an article. Wilder marched into the after-school program that produced the paper to demand a correction and has worked on newspapers ever since.
<BR>Wilder earned a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she nabbed summer internships at the Raleigh (N.C.) Times and the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. Her newspaper career pre-Variety was spent at the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., and the News Chronicle in Thousand Oaks, Calif.<BR>
She is currently managing editor overseeing the production side of the newsroom as well as financial matters and big picture projects. She and husband, David, live in Los Angeles with their two daughters.
