Kirstin Swanson Wilder's <i>Variety</i> career began in 1992 as a copy editor laying out the pages of <i>Daily Variety</i>. Since then she's been Sunday news editor, V Page editor, and was the editor that launched <i>Daily Variety</i>'s Gotham edition in March 1998. She oversaw <i>Variety</i>'s Show Daily operations for many years which took her to film festivals in Cannes, France, and Busan, South Korea.<BR> She has had a passion for journalism since the 8th grade when her school newspaper, the Irving News in Lincoln, Nebr., misspelled her name in an article. Wilder marched into the after-school program that produced the paper to demand a correction and has worked on newspapers ever since. <BR>Wilder earned a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she nabbed summer internships at the Raleigh (N.C.) Times and the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. Her newspaper career pre-Variety was spent at the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., and the News Chronicle in Thousand Oaks, Calif.<BR> She is currently managing editor overseeing the production side of the newsroom as well as financial matters and big picture projects.
