ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) announced that Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and D-Nice will receive the ASCAP Voice of the Culture award, presented to those who’ve had a major influence on music and culture.

The three artists will be recognized at this year’s ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, a for-now virtual celebration that recognizes top songwriters, composers and publishers behind the most performed R&B/hip-hop, rap and gospel songs of the year. Beatz, Timbaland and D-Nice created the virtual events Verzuz and Club Quarantine, which became signature online events during the pandemic.

The trio of music makers will participate in the panel discussion “Voices of the Culture: How Swizz Beatz, Timbaland & D-Nice United the World Through Music” on June 22 at noon ET/9 a.m. PT. The urban music legends will reflect on their massive impact on hip-hop and R&B and throughout the entertainment industry. Participants can RSVP for the event on ASCAP’s website, where they can submit a question for the three creators before June 10.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz features matchups between legendary artists like Gladys Knight vs. Patti LaBelle, Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott, Earth, Wind & Fire vs. the Isley Brothers and Snoop Dogg vs. DMX. D-Nice’s Club Quarantine on Instagram Live has attracted celebrities such as Will Smith, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Diddy for curated sets of funk, disco, hip-hop and R&B.

The 2021 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards will take place on social media from June 22–24.
