Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Richard Madden to Star in Russo Brothers Amazon Series

Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden have been cast in the lead roles of the Russo brothers’ upcoming drama series at Amazon. The announcement was made Tuesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The series is titled “Citadel.” Details of the plot are being kept under wraps. Amazon also announced that a local language production of the franchise will originate from Mexico, in addition to the previously announced versions in Italy and India. Madden and Chopra will star in the U.S. “mothership” edition of the series. The show had originally been announced in July 2018.

Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio will serve as writers and executive producers of “Citadel.” Patrick Moran, Mike Larocca, and Joe and Anthony Russo serve as executive producers. The Italian series will be co-produced with Amazon Studios and Cattleya, part of ITV Studios, and the Indian series will be developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. and produced with Amazon Studios.

It was announced in December that Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas were producing an unscripted sangeet series at Amazon. She is a former Miss World and leading Bollywood star who made her American onscreen debut in the ABC drama series “Quantico” in 2015. She has gone on to star in a number of films since then and is currently developing an untitled Indian wedding comedy with Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor at Universal in which she will star and serve as co-producer.

She is repped by UTA, Anjula Acharia, and Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, P.C.

Madden is coming off his Golden Globe-winning role in the BBC One series “Bodyguard.” He is also known for his role in “Game of Thrones” and in films such as “1917” and “Rocketman.” He is currently at work on the Marvel film “The Eternals.”

He is repped by WME in the U.S., Troika in the U.K., and Sloane Offer.
