A teaser trailer of the newly announced “Spiritfarer” shows off a colorful and compassionate world, as revealed in a new E3 trailer.

It looks like “Spiritfarer” will have players build on to their ferry and explore new places– but it also looks like the game could be a bit of a tearjerker as it also has the tagline “Learn How to Say Goodbye.”

The protagonist, Stella, is a ferrymaster who helps those who have died find their way into the afterlife. She is shown interacting with adorable creatures by chatting and laughing with them, and even sharing a few hugs. You can see for yourself in the trailer below, shared by the Xbox Game Pass Twitter account.

The game is from Thunder Lotus, and is planned for release sometime in 2020.

“Creators of hand-drawn indie experiences Thunder Lotus return with their unique third production: ‘Spiritfarer,’ a cozy management game about dying,” according to a post from Xbox Wire. “You play Stella, ferrymaster to the deceased. Build a boat to explore the world, care for your spirit friends, and finally release them into the afterlife. Farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas, as you learn how to say goodbye to your cherished friends.”

As for it being a “cozy management game,” we can see some of that in the trailer. Stella is shown on a ferry with houses stacked on it, running around with an adorable feline companion. It looks like there will be various quests or activities in the game, as the character can be seen harvesting plants, shopping, and even baking.
