Viaplay Orders First Danish Original; Studiocanal Boards International Sales (EXCLUSIVE)

Viaplay, the Nordic streaming service of Modern Time Group, has commissioned “Pro’s and Con’s,” its first Danish original series, created by Thor Bjorn Krebs (“Europamestrene”) and Mikkel Serup (“The Reunion: The Funeral”). Studiocanal has boarded international sales of the series.

The 10-part series stars Lars Ranthe (“The Reunion: The Funeral”) and Lene Maria Christensen (“The Legacy”) as a couple leading a quiet family life in the Copenhagen suburbs while trying to hide their dramatic past as Denmark’s most notorious con artists. “Pros and Cons” will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in 2018, following a rollout on free-to-air channel TV3.

The show is being produced by Studiocanal-owned SAM Productions’ Stine Meldgaard (“Something’s Rockin'”) and Morten Kjems Hytten Juhl (“Below the Surface”). Meta Louise Folder Sorensen (“Below the Surface,” “The Royal Affair”) is exec producing.

“Danish audiences love great drama, and Erik and Nina’s efforts to balance domestic life with one final grand con will have viewers everywhere hooked from the very first episode,” said Jakob Meshed, MTG’s EVP and head of programming and content development. “Our objective is to be the Nordic region’s leading producer of ordinal drama, and our slate of original series now covers unique storytelling from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the U.S.”

Viaplay’s current slate includes the drama “Alex” (pictured), the triller “Occupied,” the crime comedy drama “Straight Forward” and the first Icelandic original “Stella Blomkvist.”
