Scandal” kicked off its final season Thursday night to middling ratings.

The Shonda Rhimes-produced drama’s season 7 premiere drew a 1.4 ratings in the 18-49 demo in Nielsen overnight numbers, down 30% from last season’s premiere in January. It is also down 30% from its lead-in, “Grey’s Anatomy” (2.0), but even with its previous season finale. “How to Get Away With Murder” was down one tenth of a point at 0.9.

NBC’s “Superstore” was down one tenth of a point at 1.2, followed by “The Good Place,” also at 1.2, down two tenths. “Will & Grace” drew a 2.0 — down 33% from the revival’s premiere last week. “Great News” was down 23%  from last week at 1.0. “Chicago Fire” was down 20% at 1.2.

On Fox, “Gotham” was even at 0.9 and “The Orville” was down two tenths at 0.9.

ABC averaged a 1.4 rating and 5 share, followed by NBC at 1.3/5 and Fox at 0.9/3.

On CBS, the “Thursday Night Football” game between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers averaged an 11.1 household rating and 19 share, up 26% from last year’s game on CBS.
