‘This Is Us’ Season 2 Premiere Generates Big Social Media Buzz

This Is Us” generated substantial social media buzz during its sophomore season premiere.

According to data gathered by influencer technology company Influential, the NBC drama had 101,075 social mentions surrounding the premiere on Tuesday at 9 p.m., with the most substantial volume of mentions generating from New York, California, and Texas. The show also drew a 3.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.6 million viewers, a new high for the series in the key demo.

Influential also analyzed other shows that have premiered this week, with ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” scoring the second most mentions with 79,077. “The Voice” debut on NBC drew 13,064 social mentions surrounding the first episode of Season 13, while CBS’ “NCIS” gathered 9,092 mentions. Though “Bull” had the smallest volume of mentions at 1,879, the CBS drama did have the most viral mentions.

“Big Bang Theory’s” premiere gathered 7,087 mentions, though it did have the most spikes in conversation, reaching its highest peak of mentions the morning of its season premiere on Monday at 8 p.m. ET. “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Voice” shared the highest positive sentiment at 42%, while “Bull” and “Big Bang Theory” received 33% positive sentiment.

The data for each of these shows was pulled in a 24 hour time period, meaning 12 hours before each show’s season premiere aired and 12 hours after.
