ABC debuted both “The Mayor” and “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” on Tuesday, with both shows putting up modest numbers in their respective premieres.

According to Nielsen fast affiliate data, “The Mayor” averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.1 million total viewers at 9:30 p.m. That is good enough to handily beat Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in both measures in the time slot. Nevertheless, “The Mayor” was the least-watched and lowest-rated ABC comedy of the night.

At 10 p.m., “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” drew a 1.0 and 4.2 million viewers. That was good enough to tie for second place in its time slot in the key demo, but the new show finished third at 10 p.m. in total viewers behind NBC’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Earlier on ABC, the ninth and final season premiere of “The Middle” drew a 1.6 and 6.1 million viewers, down approximately 10 percent in both measures from the Season 8 debut. At 8:30 p.m., the Season 4 debut of “Fresh Off the Boat” averaged a 1.3 and 4.5 million viewers, down just under 20 percent in the demo and just over 10 percent in total viewers compared to Season 3’s opener. The Season 4 premiere of “Black-ish” drew a 1.5 and 4.7 million viewers, down over 20 percent in both measures from the Season 3 premiere.

On NBC, “The Voice” (2.2, 10.2 million) was down in both measures. “This Is Us” (3.1, 10.9 million) was also down in both measures from last week’s series highs, but was still the top-rated show of the night. “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” (1.2, 5.1 million) was down from its premiere last week.

For CBS, “NCIS” (1.4, 13.2 million) was down slightly in the key demo. “Bull” (1.2, 10.7 million) was even with its season premiere last week, as was “NCIS: New Orleans” (1.0, 9.2 million).

On Fox, “Lethal Weapon” (1.1, 4 million), “The Mick” (0.9, 2.5 million), and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (0.7, 1.9 million) were all even with their premieres last week.

The CW aired a repeat of “The Flash” at 8 p.m., followed by “Machinima’s Chasing the Cup: Injustice 2” (0.1, 410,000) at 9 p.m.

NBC won the night in the demo with a 2.2 but finished second in total viewers with 8.7 million. ABC was second in the demo with a 1.3 but third in total viewers with 4.6 million. CBS was third in the demo with a 1.2 but first in total viewers with 11 million. Fox was fourth overall with a 0.9 and 3.1 million. The CW averaged a 0.2 and 596,000 viewers.
