UPDATED, Oct. 28th: Sources say Cowell will miss the live “X Factor” show tonight, Saturday, but is expected to return to the for Sunday’s live episode

Simon Cowell was hospitalized on Friday morning after taking a bad fall at his home in London, Variety has confirmed.

According to a source, the “X Factor UK” and “America’s Got Talent” judge woke up in the middle of the night feeling dizzy and unwell. He went down the stairs to get a cup of hot milk, and fainted and fell backward as he was walking back up the stairs.

Cowell, 58, was put in a neck brace and laid on a stretcher as he was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. The former “American Idol” judge was in stable condition as he underwent tests in the hospital on Friday afternoon. He has since returned to his London home and is resting.

“It’s been a scary morning,” a source close to Cowell told The Sun, which first reported the news. “It was very early and Simon was going down his stairs to get some hot milk because he couldn’t sleep.”

It’s unclear whether he’ll appear on Saturday night’s “X Factor UK” on ITV, the first live episode of this season. The broadcaster was reportedly holding emergency talks this afternoon. A source said it currently looks unlikely that he will do the show, but a formal decision has not been made yet.

Simon experienced health problems this summer as well when he was forced to pull out of “X Factor’s” London auditions. He has also talked about the heavy demands of his TV work and his hectic travel schedule.
