Olivia Colman has been tapped to play the Queen in seasons 3 and 4 of “The Crown” — and Claire Foy, who has played the role for the drama’s first two seasons, calls the choice “amazing” and says she couldn’t be happier for her.
“I’ve known about it for ages, so I’ve secretly been jumping up and down for about three months,” Foy tells Variety. “Going into the second series, there was a rumor that they were thinking of her, and I was like ‘yes, yes, yes!’ I just think she’s extraordinary. She’s an extraordinary human being as well. I just think that she will make it her own. And I just can’t wait to see what she does with it.”
But Foy, who has received accolades for her work on the Netflix drama, including a Golden Globe Award, says she wouldn’t even think of offering any advice to Colman, who has won praise as well for “Broadchurch” and “The Night Manager.”
“God, no! Absolutely not. I don’t have any advice for her at all,” says Foy. “The only advice I can giver her is about taking vitamins to get through doing a TV show. But she’s done that before. I have no advice for her, but I would gladly talk to her for hours about anything.”
Season two of “The Crown” is set to debut on Netflix on Dec. 8th; subsequent seasons have yet to be officially ordered, but production is said to be underway.
