Banijay Group has named Frédéric Balmary as COO of Banijay Studios International. Balmary, who joined Banijay in 2011, was previously deputy CFO at the banner.

He will now oversee business development for the company’s scripted activity through both merger and acquisitions operations as well as organic growth. Based in Banijay’s Paris office, Balmary will report to Takis Candilis, head of scripted at Banijay Group, and will be working with the existing scripted team and the local head of finance and legal.

The appointment of Balmary follows several changes that have been made to boost Banijay Studios’s scripted team. Banijay Studios France has recently tapped award-winning producer Camille Gatin to oversee international productions, including “Farewell Shanghai,” an ambitious series which is being produced with French, Chinese, Australian and German partners.

“As our international scripted business continues to expand I am extremely pleased to have appointed Frédéric in this significant role,” said Candilis. “Banijay Studios International has huge potential to pursue growth by leveraging the development of the broad fiction activity across our Group, and Frédéric has the experience and skills to ensure that this task is delivered to the benefit of the entire scripted team.”
