All3Media America is developing a crime thriller series based on Italian prosecutor Alessandra Cerreti, Variety has learned exclusively.

Ceretti’s work targeted Ndrangheta, an organized crime group that spans three continents and controls 80 percent of Europe’s drug trade. After discovering the organization’s vulnerability is the women of the mafia, Cerreti flips a wife and daughter into becoming informants and together, the three women take down the world’s most powerful mafia from the inside out.

All3Media America has secured an agreement with Cerreti for her life rights and involvement in the project. The company will be taking the project out to buyers in the next few weeks. Peter
Landesman is attached to write, direct and executive produce the project. Paul de Souza will also executive produce. Greg Lipstone and Nina Lederman of All3Media America are executive producing along with Landesman and de Souza.

Landesman is the writer and director behind the Liam Neeson-led film “Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House,” which premiered at the Toronto
International Film Festival. He also wrote and directed the features “Concussion,” starring Will Smith, and “Parkland,” about the immediate aftermath in Dallas after JFK’s assassination. Landesman also co-wrote the HBO movie adaptation of “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” which starred Oprah Winfrey. de Souza’s credits include producing the feature film “Finding Gobi,” based on the international best-selling book of the same name.

The development of the new series is the latest effort by All3Media to push into scripted programming. The company recently announced that it is also developing the comedy “Step Dave” at NBC, while Main Event Media–an All3Media company–produces the E! drama series “The Arrangement.”
