Young Thug Arrested for Marijuana Possession, Tinted Windows in Georgia

Rapper Young Thug was arrested in Georgia on Saturday for one count of marijuana possession and tinted front windows, a representative for the Brookhaven Police confirmed to Variety. The rep confirmed that the rapper — real name: Jeffrey Lamar Williams — is facing felony charges although he was unable to provide further details at press time.  A representative for the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office told Variety the rapper was still in custody Wednesday morning but is scheduled to appear in court later in the day. News of the arrest was first reported by TMZ.

It seems likely the stiff charge is related to Thug’s 2015 arrest after a police raid on his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia, that saw him charged with felony marijuana and cocaine possession and three counts of felony gun possession. All except the marijuana charges were later dropped by the D.A.; the rapper was cleared after his lawyer argued the police had entered his house without a proper warrant.

He was also previously arrested for having “excessively” tinted windows, and a warrant for his arrest was issued after he skipped a court date.

Musically speaking, the rapper has had a busy few weeks. In the wake of the June release of his latest album, “Beautiful Thugger Girls,” last week he dropped a collaborative EP with Carnage called “Young Martha.” He’s also been working extensively with Future, appearing onstage with him at the Meadows Festival in New York On Sept. 16, and earlier this month previewed a track he recorded with the rapper. Also this month, XXL reported that Thug was in the studio with Chance the Rapper.
