Sam Smith Drops Song ‘Pray,’ Album Due Nov. 3

Sam Smith dropped a new song early Friday called “Pray” and announced that his sophomore album, “The Thrill of it It,” will be out Nov. 3 on Capitol. He also announced the North American dates for his tour in support of the album, which begins in seven months, on June 18, 2018 in Toronto (dates and track list below). Each ticket sold will include a copy of the album.
As if that weren’t enough, Smith announced that he will be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” Oct. 7. He released the first song from the album, “Too Good at Goodbyes,” last month.
The album, which was finished earlier this year, continues the sad-soul vibe of his 2014 debut “In the Lonely Hour” — which garnered the singer four Grammy Awards — although with the addition of gospel-style singers on many songs, including the new single. Smith worked with long-time collaborator Jimmy Napes along with Timbaland, Malay and Stargate and Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd. He recently previewed the album and tour with a set of small gigs in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin.
Smith will be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” on October 7. He recently gave fans a taste of his new album during a series of intimate shows in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin.
