IHeartRadio L.A. alternative rock station KYSR (Alt 98.7) has been giving KROQ a run for its money in the ratings department, and now has grabbed one of its veteran programmers in Lisa Worden, who has been named VP of programming for the station after 22 years at the CBS Radio affiliate, most recently as assistant program director/music director.

Said Worden, “I could not be more thrilled to join the incomparable iHeartMedia team and work with the amazing people at iHeartMedia Los Angeles. My 20-plus career in radio has led to this tipping point. I can’t wait to take the iHeartMedia alternative platform to new heights.”

Worden will work alongside KYSR program director Mike Kaplan as alternative rock brand manager to the chain’s 25 alternative rock stations around the country.

She will report to iHeartMedia chief programming officer Tom Poleman and national programming group EVP/GM Brad Hardin.

Said Poleman: “Lisa is widely regarded as an outstanding leader in the Alternative Rock world. Her relationships are fantastic. She’ll play a key role in helping artists maximize iHeartMedia’s unmatched alternative footprint.”

In the most recent ratings for October, KROQ led KYSR 2.6-2.5 in 12+ listeners. Entercom has been approved to merge with CBS Radio, a deal first announced in February.
