Backstreet Boys Surprise With Performance at ABC Upfront (Watch)

ABC wooed ad-buyers on Tuesday during the network’s Upfront presentation with none other than the Backstreet Boys.

The five-man band made a surprise performance at the New York City event, singing their greatest hit “Everybody.”

Why Backstreet Boys? Frontman Nick Carter has signed on to ABC’s upcoming summer singing competition series “Boyband,” as exclusively reported by Variety. Carter will serve as a judge, alongside Emma Bunton of Spice Girls, and host Rita Ora.

The Backstreet Boys’ surprise performance is one of many wooing techniques displayed by the broadcast networks this week. On Monday, NBC brought out “The Voice’s” new coach Jennifer Hudson to open their Upfront with a performance from “Dreamgirls,” while Fox had Yankees star Alex Rodriguez greet the ad-buying crowd.
