Tom Jones has said that the abuse and harassment issues Hollywood is grappling with are also a problem in the music business. The Welsh singer has had a successful music career spanning over 50 years, and is also now a coach on “The Voice” in the U.K.

He told BBC radio that he experienced harassment first hand as he was starting out, and asked about the Harvey Weinstein saga, said: “Things have always happened in the music industry as well.”

Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live’s “Afternoon Edition” about his own experience. “There were a few things like that. But you avoid it. You just walk out… But what’s tried on women is tried on men as well.”

The veteran singer recently cancelled a U.S. tour and has undergone hip surgery, but is pressing ahead with his TV commitments. He has returned to “The Voice” and will appear alongside Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, and former winner of “The X Factor,” Olly Murs.

He said: “Things happen in showbusiness, and sometimes things are covered up and then they come to light and other people come forward – it’s like taking the cork off of a bottle.”
