Linda Cardellini to Star in James Wan Horror-Thriller ‘The Children’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Linda Cardellini has been cast as the lead in New Line’s upcoming horror film “The Children” sources tell Variety.

Michael Chaves is directing. James Wan will produce through his Atomic Monster production banner along with Gary Dauberman and Emile Gladstone. Michael Clear is exec producing.

The story follows a social worker who, while investigating the mysterious disappearance of two children, discovers her own family might also be in jeopardy.

Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis penned the script.

New Line has been on a horror win streak with their most current film, the feature adaptation of Stephen King’s “It,” breaking numerous box office records worldwide. It is the highest grossing horror film of all time with over $600 million at the worldwide box office, and major international markets yet to open. “Annabelle: Creation,” an August release that is a part of James Wan’s “Conjuring” universe, has earned over $298 million worldwide.

Cardellini was most recently on the Netflix series “Bloodline” and can be seen next in the Paramount comedy “Daddy’s Home 2” opposite Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

She is repped by Mosaic and ICM Partners.
