England plays a washed-up musician, Dave, who goes on his nephew’s school trip as he has a crush on the teacher, Miss Caroline (Nyong’o). Dave’s intentions are complicated by the presence of the world-famous kids show personality, Teddy McGiggle (Gad), who also has eyes for Miss Caroline. A sudden zombie outbreak then throws the trip into chaos.
“Little Monsters” hails from Australian writer and director Abe Forsythe (“Down Under”). Snoot Entertainment and Made Up Stories are producing the film, and shooting got underway this month in Sydney. Screen Australia and Create NSW backed the project.
Nyong’o won an Oscar for her performance in “12 Years a Slave,” and Gadd starred in “Beauty and the Beast.” England appeared in “Alien Covenant” and in Forsythe’s “Down Under.”
“Abe is a brilliant filmmaker, and I can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with this original film that is equal parts hilarious, heartwarming and terrifying,” said Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea. “We have been longtime fans of Lupita’s and Josh’s extraordinary work, and we are thrilled that they have come on board alongside Alex.”
Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales of “Little Monsters.”
