‘Kingsman 2’ Leads International Box Office With $50.5 Million

Kingsman: The Golden Circle” returns to the top of the international and worldwide box office charts.

The heist sequel, from Fox, is posting $50.5 million overseas, with a big boost from Korea. Combined with its $17 million at the domestic market, the movie — directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and Taron Egerton — should pass the $200 million worldwide mark in the next few days. Right now its two-frame total is $192.9 million.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. and New Line’s “It” continues to post monster numbers. The Stephen King adaptation is earning $35.6 million abroad from 64 territories abroad this weekend, raising “It’s” global grosses to a massive $553.2 million.

Still, “It” actually ranks third at the foreign box office this weekend behind China’s “Never Say Die.” The comedy is bringing in a reported $45.6 million from two markets. The Middle Kingdom also has a strong presence with “The Foreigner,” a British-Chinese co-production starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. That movie is earning $23.1 million from three territories, putting it in fourth overall internationally. Meanwhile, “Chasing the Dragon” — a Hong Kong-Chinese action crime drama film directed by Jason Kwan Wong Jing — is posting $14.9 million from four markets. There’s also “Sky Hunter,” a Chinese war movie that’s grossing $13 million from three territories.

Universal’s Tom Cruise drug trade movie “American Madeopened this weekend in domestic locations, but has been out in theaters overseas for a few weeks. This weekend it’s earning $3.8 million from 61 markets, raising its international total to $64.7 million. And Sony’s “Flatliners” — a new release in North America — is opening at 21 markets abroad to $3.1 million.
