Lightning Entertainment has acquired worldwide sales rights to Rhys Ifans’ “Dominion,” a biographical drama about the last days of the poet and writer Dylan Thomas, Variety has learned exclusively.

It launches sales of the title at the American Film Market, which opens Wednesday in Santa Monica. “Dominion” is directed by Steve Bernstein (“Decoding Annie Parker”) from his own script.

The film is produced by Richard Gladstein, Nolan Mcdonald, Jacek Szumlas and John Malkovich. The cast includes Malkovich, Rodrigo Santoro, Romola Garai, Tony Hale and Zosia Mamet.

“I don’t think I have seen anything quite like Rhys’s performance in my entire career — brave, hilariously funny, brilliant,” Bernstein said. Ifans is currently starring in “Berlin Station” on Epix.

Thomas passed away in 1953 at the age of 39.
