Gravitas Ventures has acquired North American rights to Peter Schonau Fog’s “You Disappear,” the Danish candidate for the foreign-language Oscar race.
Produced by Zentropa and repped in international markets by TrustNordisk, “You Disappear” world premiered at Toronto. It stars Trine Dyrholm, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and the late Michael Nyqvist.
Based on Christian Jungersen’s best-selling novel, “You Disappear” follows Frederik, a headmaster put on trial for embezzling millions from his school. His defense lawyer argues Frederik is not criminally liable because he has a brain tumor that is affecting his behavior.
The deal was negotiated by Susan Wendt, the head of international sales and marketing, and Zach Hamby, acquisitions manager at Gravitas Ventures.
Gravitas plans on releasing “You Disappear” in spring 2018.
“You Disappear” will be screening for Academy members in L.A. throughout November and December.
