Critics’ Choice Awards Returns to The CW

The Broadcast Film Critics Assn. and Broadcast Television Journalists Assn. announced Tuesday that the annual Critics’ Choice Awards will return to The CW Network in 2018.

The 22nd annual event will air live on Thursday, Jan. 11. It will again combine film and television honors and take place at The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.

“BFCA and BTJA are thrilled to be back on The CW, where many of our finest CCA shows were nurtured,” said BFCA President Joey Berlin. “The CW is home to some of the best shows anywhere on broadcast television, and we’re looking forward to being back in their company for years to come.”

A&E aired the Critics’ Choice Awards the last three years. Prior to the previous CW stint, VH1 aired the show.

Earlier this year Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land” won eight Critics’ Choice Awards, including best picture and best director. “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” “Game of Thrones” and “Silicon Valley” won top television prizes. It was the first year the BFCA and BTJA combined film and television honors in one show.

This year’s nominations will be announced on Dec. 6.
