Stockard Channing Re-Lists Above L.A.’s Laurel Canyon (EXCLUSIVE)

Location:
Los Angeles, Calif.
Price:
$1.849 million
Size:
2,196 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms

More than a year after she briefly and unsuccessfully attempted to sell a 1950s ranch-style residence above L.A.’s Laurel Canyon with an asking price pushing up on $1.9 million, veteran stage and screen actress Stockard Channing is giving it another go and re-listed the property with a slightly lower price tag of $1.849 million. With two Emmys, plus a dozen more nominations, and a Tony, plus half of a dozen more nominations, not to mention an Oscar nomination in 1993 for the film “Six Degrees of Separation,” a role she originated on Broadway to great acclaim, Channing has owned the property since the fall of 2003 when she picked it up for $1.075 million.

Secreted down a long, tree-shaded driveway on a wooded three-quarter acre hillside property, the 2,196-square-foot, single-story residence has two bedrooms with original built-in wardrobes and desks and two bathrooms, one of which has been upgraded with cork floor tiles but retains a probably original, etched glass shower door that depicts a deer drinking from a stream. The spacious living room has a red brick fireplace between built-in storage cabinets and a couple of built-in cushioned banquette sofas in a generously windowed corner with through-the-tress canyon view. The neighboring dining room features French doors and a built-in buffet next to a raised brick fireplace accented with wrought iron doors while the kitchen has been updated with stainless steel cabinetry and stainless steel appliances. Both bedrooms as well as the living and dining rooms open to the backyard that includes a private deck off the master bedroom and a large, sunny dining and lounging terrace with open, over-the-tree tops view across Laurel Canyon.

The New York City born and bred actress additionally owns a neighboring property she bought in the late 1990s for an unrecorded amount and is anchored by a 2,157-square-foot, 1950s ranch-style residence with two bedrooms, three bathrooms and a swimming pool along. Her residential holdings also include a 1,519-square-foot, townhouse-style condo with three bedrooms and two bathrooms in a complex along the Intracoastal Waterway in posh Palm Beach, Fla., scooped up in June 2007 for $675,000 and a residence of unknown size scenically sited on 16.5 wooded acres along the Sasanoa River on Maine’s picturesque, semi-remote Georgetown Island.

The property is represented by Jaime Cuevas at Compass.
