English novelist and screenwriter Helen Fielding, best known for penning a series of hugely successful novels that became the even more successful feature film “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and its two sequels, for which she also wrote the screenplays, has her longtime home above L.A.’s Sunset Strip listed at $3.5 million. The best-selling author, long coupled with Kevin Curran, six-time Emmy-winning writer-executive producer for “The Simpsons,” who died after a long illness in October 2016, has owned the home since 2000, when it was purchased for close to $1.4 million.

Behind gates, and described in marketing materials as a “contemporary villa,” the unassuming but high-priced single-story residence has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms in not quite 2,700 square feet.

The loft-like, open-plan main living space incorporates a lounge with a minimalist fireplace flanked by cushioned window seats and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, an ample dining area and a crisply contemporary kitchen with high-end name-brand appliances and a large work island with integrated snack counter. Several sets of wood-trimmed glass doors open to a shallow loggia that runs the length of the house and overlooks the swimming pool and dining terrace. Two family bedrooms share a hall bathroom, and the master suite has a dressing corridor with hidden built-in desk area; a window-lined office that opens to a grassy, tree-shaded yard; a bedroom large enough to accommodate a sitting area; and a roomy bathroom with black marble double-sink vanity, garden tub and glass-enclosed steam shower.

Fielding, whose trio of Bridget Jones movies have raked in more than three quarters of a billion dollars in worldwide box office, has already purchased her next home, a brand-new, spec-built modern farmhouse near the celeb-favored Brentwood Country Mart on the casually affluent border between Brentwood and Santa Monica. The residence has five bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms plus a poolside cabana with fireplace, wet bar and bathroom for which she paid more than $5.6 million.
