Porn Tycoon Bill Asher Lands Buyer in L.A.’s Hancock Park (EXCLUSIVE)

Location:
Los Angeles, Calif.
Price:
$5.75 million
Size:
(approx.) 5,200 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms

A stately, well-preserved and extensively updated 1923 Colonial on a prime street in the historic and historically hoity-toity Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, owned for almost a decade by hardcore porn mogul Bill Asher, came up for sale in early October at $5.75 million and, per online listings is already in escrow to be sold to an unknown buyer for an unknown amount. Asher, co-owner and co-chairman of adult entertainment juggernaut Vivid Entertainment, an enterprise known, among other salacious things, for their release of a slew of celebrity sex tapes, including those of Kim Kardashian, Tila Tequila and Vince Neil, purchased the property in early 2008 for exactly $4 million. The decidedly traditional two-story residence, fronted by an elegant semi-circular portico and classically embellished with black shutters, sits on a flat .43-acre parcel and measures in at about 5,200-square-feet with six bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Hardwood floor run throughout the main floor living and entertaining spaces that include a formal living room with decorative fireplace, a formal dining room with floor-to-ceiling bay window that overlooks the grassy, tree-shaded front yard and, just inside the front door, a cozily proportioned den/study with built-in bookshelves. A butler’s pantry with brass sink and under-counter beverage fridge connects the dining room to a spacious kitchen with center island and white marble counter tops on white, raised panel cabinetry. French doors in the adjoining breakfast room as well as in the neighboring family room open the back of the house to a column-supported loggia that overlooks the backyard. One en suite guest or staff bedroom is located on the main floor and there are four more ample family bedrooms on the upper floor along with three Malibu style vintage tiled bathrooms and a pampering master suite replete with bedroom-sized fitted walk-in closet and three sets of French doors that open to a large private terrace. Recreation and leisure amenities include a verdant expanse of well-irrigated lawn, a picket-fenced children’s play yard with cute-as-a-button playhouse, an outdoor shower and a trellis covered lounge next to the swimming pool and spa.

Asher’s money-minting porn empire has provided him pockets deep enough to amass a substantial portfolio of private residences on both the East and West coasts, including a 1950s era residence tucked up into the Hollywood Hills behind Vivid’s longtime offices in the Cahuenga Pass area of L.A. he’s owned since the late 1990s when it was purchased for $909,000 from married actors and avocational house flippers Corbin Bernson and Amanda Pays. The triple-x tycoon’s residential holdings additionally include a 3,451-square-foot single-story contemporary Mediterranean villa in Key Biscayne, Fla., purchased in May 2010 for $2.2 million and currently for sale at $3.649 million as well as an almost 3.5-acre gated compound with a “grand European Country manor” plus a two-bedroom guesthouse in the tony seaside community of Montecito he bought earlier this year for $8.1 million from fast food executive Andrew Pudzer, Donald Trump’s original nominee for Secretary of Labor who withdrew his name from consideration when it became clear he lacked the Congressional votes needed for confirmation.
