Beyonce Sells Swank but Superfluous Condo at One Beacon Court in Manhattan

New York City, NY
2,669 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

Showbiz’s reigning king and queen Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been on quite the real estate tear this year. First came word they bought hugely expensive homes one both the East and West Coasts and now, after a bit more than two months on the market, a high-floor condo at the sleek One Beacon complex in Midtown Manhattan, owned by Beyoncé since 2005 when she scooped it up for $5,091,000, was sold to a mysterious corporate entity for its full asking price of $9,950,000. Per the New York Post, who first reported the transaction, the Lemonade singer used the three bedroom and 3.5 bathroom spread to house family members.

The 44th-floor aerie, saddled with taxes and common charges that total $9,279 per month, features top end finishes selected by revered Parisian designer Jacques Grange and include solid panel doors with polished nickel hardware, dark chocolate stained white oak floorboards set off against stark white walls with contemporary step moldings and vast expanses of floor-to-ceiling windows that provide energetic, bird’s eye views to the north over the entirety of Central Park and the Upper East Side and to the east over the East River, Roosevelt Island and a wide swathe of Queens. The living and dining rooms are combined into one huge room that extends more than 30-feet end-to-end and the separate kitchen features designer appliances, imported Italian stone countertops on imported German cabinetry, Brazilian marble flooring, and an adjoining breakfast area with open eastern views.

One en suite guest bedroom is discretely tucked up behind the kitchen next to the laundry room where it’s perfectly suited to accommodate a live-in domestic worker and the second guest bedroom, also en suite, is in the opposite wing of the condo next to the master suite that encompasses four closets, two of them walk-ins, as well as a compartmentalized bathroom with double sink vanity, bidet and steam shower.

Just three long, swish blocks off Fifth Avenue, One Beacon Court offers its wealthy residents a private motor court for discreet comings and goings, 24-7 doorman, concierge and valet parking services, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, a business center and a children’s playroom.

The sick-rich global megastars, who preside over a fortune the Forbes folk estimate at close to $1.2 billion, have long maintained an 8,309-square-foot duplex apartment in a swank building in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood that was acquired in 2004 for $6.85 million and, after an exhaustive, years-long hunt for just the right trophy home in Los Angeles, the couple splashed out an astonishing $88 million for a spec-built compound in the über posh Bel Air area that all together has about 30,000-square-feet of severely contemporary interior spaces, another 10,000-or-so-square-feet of outdoor living areas, four swimming pools, a full-sized outdoor basketball court and garage space for up to 15 cars. Property records show they took out a bone rattling $52.8 million mortgage on the property. Shortly after the international property gossip columns went hog-wild with news of their elephantine West Coast purchase, came word down the celebrity real estate gossip grapevine in the Hamptons that they’d shelled out another $25.925 million for an approximately 12,000-square-foot mansion with five bedrooms and seven full and two half bathrooms, plus a two-bed/one-bath guesthouse, on 2.1 pastoral acres on East Hampton’s serene and picturesque but polluted Georgica Pond.
