Monique Meche has departed Amazon after four years to join Netflix as VP of global public policy.

Meche reports to David Hyman, Netflix’s chief legal officer, and she’s responsible for leading the team that deals with public policy, regulatory and governmental issues across 190 countries. Meche will split her time between Amsterdam and Washington, D.C., according to a company rep.

Most recently, Meche was VP of international public policy for Amazon, responsible for managing all public policy and governmental issues for the ecommerce giant outside of the Americas as well as the company’s policy-related global expansion efforts.

Before joining Amazon in 2013, Meche was VP of government affairs and corporate social responsibility at steel and mining company ArcelorMittal, based in Luxembourg. She also worked in a variety of policy-related and business positions at Cisco Systems and Intel.

Meche holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Tulane University and graduate degrees from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. She speaks French, German and Japanese and is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Ireland.

Netflix’s hiring of Meche was previously reported by Re/code.
