Disney Promotes Abhishek Maheshwari as India Head

The Walt Disney Company has promoted Abhishek Maheshwari to the position of India country head. He will report to Mahesh Samat, who is recently installed as executive VP and managing director for South Asia.

Maheshwari joined Disney in 2012 as VP and head of corporate strategy and business development. In 2014, he was put in charge of the consumer products business and earlier this year was also given charge of the company’s Integrated Media Networks business.

“Abhishek is an astute and transformative business leader. Since joining the company, he has championed and driven transformative changes that have positioned our businesses to achieve consistent significant growth,” said Samat.

In September, Disney restructured its Asian operations, created new North and South divisions. Its South unit comprises businesses in India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, under the leadership of Samat.
