Fear the Walking Dead” showrunner Dave Erickson has a whole new tale to tell in the second season of the “Dead” companion web series, and it’s getting the VIP treatment. In addition to rolling out a new episode weekly on AMC’s website and app, each “Fear the Walking Dead: Passage” episode will also air during new episodes of “The Walking Dead,” starting Sunday, Oct. 23. The first episode of “Passage” is already up on the site and app, but subsequent installments will be released on Sundays.

The first season of the web series, subtitled “Flight 462,” followed one of the last commercial flights to take off during the beginning of the outbreak that turned everyone in the “Walking Dead”-verse into walkers. In this second season, injured woman Gabi (Mishel Prada) convinces consummate survivor Sierra (Kelsey Scott) to take her under her wing, in exchange for sanctuary. All 16 episodes will be less than a minute long — the first one shows a figure in a hazmat suit (presumably Sierra) taking care of walker business while Gabi looks on.

“Fear the Walking Dead: Passage” is produced by Erickson, directed and produced by Andrew Bernstein, and written by Lauren Signorino and Mike Zunic, who also serve as consulting producers. “Flight 462” garnered two Emmy nominations, including best short-form series.

AMC also just renewed flagship series “The Walking Dead” for an eighth season; Season 7 premieres Oct. 23. Rest assured, AMC will continue to feed you “Walking Dead” content until the actual zombie apocalypse comes.
