‘Uncle Buck,’ ‘To Tell the Truth’ Premiere Dates Set as ABC Unveils Summer Schedule

ABC unveiled its 2016 summer schedule Tuesday, setting premiere dates for new series such as freshman comedy “Uncle Buck” and gameshow revivals “To Tell the Truth” and “The $100,000 Pyramid.”

Not on the schedule is “Secrets and Lies.” Season two of the crime anthology was touted at last year’s upfront presentation and again in January at the TCA winter press tour, but has now been pushed later into 2016. “Secrets and Lies” is now a possible fall entry for ABC’s 2016-17 season, the network’s first under new entertainment president Channing Dungey.

Uncle Buck”—an updated take on the 1989 John Candy movie, starring Mike Epps in the title role—will debut with back-to-back episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, following an 8 p.m. sneak preview of “To Tell the Truth.” Hosted by “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson, “To Tell The Truth will then settle into its regular timeslot at 10 p.m. with a second episode that same evening.

“100,000 Pyramid,” another rebooted gameshow hosted by core ABC talent, will debut Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. following the season premiere of “Celebrity Family Feud.” The new “Pyramid” will be hosted by Michael Strahan, who on Tuesday bolted daytime gig “Live! With Kelly and Michael” for a full-time role on ABC’s flagship morning show “Good Morning America.”

Other returning series filling out the reality-heavy summer schedule include gameshow “500 Questions” (May 26), drama “Mistresses” (May 30), ESPN-produced documentary series “O.J.: Made in America” (June 11), “BattleBots” June 23, “Bachelor in Paradise” (Aug. 2), and “Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise” (Aug. 9).

ABC will broadcast the 2016 ESPYS Wednesday, July 13 at 8 p.m. Concert special “The CMA Music Festival” will air Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m.
