The season premiere of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” easily outpaced the competition on Monday night, although its impressive numbers are likely inflated due to “Monday Night Football” preemptions in some markets. Before adjustments, the season opener stands at a 2.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 13.7 million viewers, perhaps buoyed by a bizarre security incident incited by the presence of controversial Olympic athlete Ryan Lochte as a contestant.

NBC’s finale of “American Ninja Warrior” earned a 1.7 rating and 5.8 million viewers in the same 8-10 p.m. timeslot, while the finale of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” notched a 0.6 rating and 2.3 million viewers. CBS and The CW were in repeats for the night, aside from CBS’ fall preview special of its new shows, which earned a 0.9 rating and 4.9 million viewers at 8:30 p.m.

At 10 p.m., ABC’s “The $100,000 Pyramid” earned a 1.4 in the demo and 6.6 million viewers, while “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” nabbed a 1.2 rating and 3.7 million viewers to close out the night.
